Cáritas Diocesana reúne comunidade em Curral Novo para discutir mineração

[ad#336×280]Com objetivo de elaborar uma ação emergencial para as comunidades atingidas pelos projetos de mineradora no município de Curral Novo, a Cáritas Diocesana de Picos, em parceria com a Comissão Pastoral da Terra (CPT), realizará uma reunião com moradores das comunidades atingidas. O encontro acontece nesta quinta-feira (22) na comunidade Baixio dos Belos.

Esse será um momento oportuno para as entidades ouvirem a situação atual das famílias, sobretudo depois da última audiência realizada no município. Em seguida, será feito um resgate das visitas do bispo diocesano de Picos, Dom Plínio, além de esclarecimentos sobre as leis de mineração e subsolo e apresentação de atividades desenvolvidas pela CPT no município.

Além de Curral Novo do Piauí, o projeto de mineração ainda abrange os municípios de Paulistana e Simões. O problema geral é que, nas áreas onde o projeto deverá ser executado, existem famílias que vivem há cerca de 30 a 40 anos.

Há muitos anos, o secretariado Regional da Cáritas acompanha muitas famílias empobrecidas e da agricultura familiar do Estado do Piauí. Essas famílias representam a maioria da população piauiense.

“Toda vez que se impõe esse duelo, grandes empresas versus populações pobres, quem, invariavelmente, perde são as pessoas pobres. As elites e justiça do nosso Estado não levam em consideração as necessidades, direitos e vontades do nosso povo. Terra e água são concentradas nas mãos de poucas famílias. O mesmo é visto nos processos de mineração. Famílias pobres são enxotadas de suas terras, perdendo plantações e animais. A missão da Cáritas é fazer essas denúncias e apoiar as famílias na busca de direitos, além de reivindicar junto ao Ministério Público e à Justiça que não seja permitida a degradação do nosso meio ambiente, nem o empobrecimento ainda maior das famílias”, explica Hortência Mendes, assessora da Cáritas Piauí.
