[ad#336×280]Os picoenses acordaram nesta quarta-feira(12) com uma bonita queima de fogos anunciando o aniversário de 122 anos da cidade de Picos, município do Estado do Piauí, conhecido como ” Cidade Modelo” e “Capital do Mel”. Cidade jovem, tem como principal característica social a mistura étnica pois sua população é formada por indivíduos das mais diversas partes do país. Geograficamente é cortada pelo rio Guaribas, que apesar de ser um rio temporário, alivia o famoso calor das tardes picoenses.

Situa-se na região centro-sul do Piauí. É a cidade mais desenvolvida economicamente dessa região. Denominada de “cidade modelo”, por causa do grande desenvolvimento econômico, social e cultural que atingiu, principalmente na área do comércio. Sua região de influência atinge cerca de 50 munícipios, inclusive em outros estados. A versão mais correta para a alcunha de cidade modelo deve-se ao tamanho das propriedades rurais que são de pequeno porte e serviu para definir o módulo rural – o INCRA.

Picos é considerado  o principal entroncamento rodoviário do Nordeste por ser  cortada pela BR-316 (ou Rodovia Transamazônica), BR-407, BR-230 e fica muito próxima a BR-020 que  ligam o Piauí ao Maranhão, Ceará, Pernambuco e Bahia. É uma dos maiores produtoras de mel do país e destaca-se também por sediar uma unidade do Exército Brasileiro (3º BEC – Batalhão de Engenharia e Construção).

Picos tem-se notabilizado pelo crescimento do comécio, na oferta de serviços de saúde com os Hospitais: Regional Justino Luz, Casa de Saúde São José, Hospital Geral, Clínica de Urgência, Hospital Memorial do Carmo, Hospital de Oscar , além das clínicas  MedeCenter, Clínica Santa Luzia dentre outros estabelecimentos que oferecem os mais diversos serviços de saúde atraindo uma quantidade muito grande pessoas da região  que buscam esses serviços de saúde na cidade de PIcos . Na educação destaca-se como importante pólo sediando um campus da UFPI, da UESPI , do IFPI, da  Faculdade R. Sá – URSA,  Fatev, Faculdade Cristo Rei, além de outras instituições com cursos  Via Satélite, dentre outros já estabelecidos ou em fase de implantação.

Na comunicação encontra uma pujante estrutura, com um canal de TV ( Antares – TV Picos ) e duas sucursais com equipes de plantão, a exemplo da  TV Cidade Verde e TV Alvorada de Floriano. Em relação aos Jornais Impressos  encontramos atualmente em circulação os quinzenais:  Jornal de Picos, Jornal o Povo e o recém criado Folha Atual que estreiou no dia 12 de dezembro de 2012. Na radiofônia destaca a pioneira, Rádio Difusora de Picos- AM  ,  Liderança FM, Cidade Modelo FM , Grande Picos- AM, Guaribas FM – comunitária,  Rádio Cultura FM de Picos – edudactiva e Rádio Nordeste AM estéreo.  Outro destaque é a grande quantidade de sites de notícias como o Riachãonet  um dos pioneiros em atividade, Jornal de Picos, Portal o Povo, Jornalista 292, Grande Rede, Rodeador News, AgoraED, ApuraNotícia, Folha Picoense, Portal FCS, AlternativoNet entre outros.

História

A origem do município de Picos deu-se no, hoje, município de Bocaina. A construção de um, a capela pelo Sr. Borges Marinho foi o marco inicial dês eu povoamento. Neste período, o território de Picos pertencia ao município de Oeiras. A família Borges Leal, que à época ocupava grandes áreas de terras nos arredores do município, fundou aí uma de suas mais importantes fazendas. O processo de povoamento do futuro município deveu-se à instalação dessas fazendas. A elevação do povoamento à categoria de freguesia deu-se a invocação de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios, através da Resolução nº 308 de 11 de setembro de 1851. Devido ao constante crescimento da freguesia, 4 anos depois veio a elevação á categoria de vila através da resolução Provincial nº 397 de 20 de dezembro de 1859. Como a Lei Provincial nº 468 de 1859, o tempo judiciário de Picos foi desmembrado da comarca de Oeiras, anexando-o a Comarca de Jaicós e assim permanecendo até o ano de 1889. Sendo então desanexada a comarca de picos juntamente com o município de Patrocínio, hoje, Pio IX. A elevação da vila à categoria de cidade verificou-se através da resolução nº 332 de 12 de dezembro de 1890, assinada pelo então chefe de governo Estadual o Barão de Urucuí. Quando da divisão administrativa verificada em 1993, o município de Picos apresentava-se com 02 (dois) distritos, sendo o 2º de Patrocínio, hoje Pio IX. Desde a ultima divisão administrativa até os nossos dias, vários distritos forma desmembradas do município de Picos, vindo a constituírem-se em municípios como os de Bocaina, Francisco Santos, Santo Antônio de Lisboa, São José do Piauí, Monsenhor Hipólito e São João da Canabrava.

Economia A cidade de Picos apresenta a segunda maior economia do Estado. Sendo que a região fiscal de Picos arrecada mais que as regiões fiscais de Parnaíba, Floriano e Campo Maior juntas. Perdendo apenas para a região fiscal da Capital Teresina.

Zona urbana

O Município dispõe de muitos clubes, Clube do 3º BEC, Associação Atlética Banco do Brasil (AABB); Sociedade Civil Picoense Clube; Samambaia Campestre Clube; Clube Recreativo das Industrias Coelho; Recanto dos Maçons; Lions Clube Casa do leão; Clube dos Professores;Clube dos Médicos; Palladium Casa de Shows; várias pizzarias, restaurantes, hotéis, bares e botequins.

No aspecto urbano o município conta com várias Avenidas, Praças, Ruas, Três conjuntos habitacionais, tendo a maioria de suas vias públicas pavimentadas. Quanto às estruturas arquitetônicas, pouco se observa prédios antigoz preservados, geralmente dão lugar a novos comércios que encontram-se com fachadas e padrões cada vez mais modernos (por força do comércio local)com uma ligeira verticalização central que não ultrapassa o 3º nível. Em meados do ano 2000, a cidade passou a contar serviços de diversas áreas, mais notadamente na saúde, na educação e habitação como: Hospital Memorial do Carmo, SAMU, Corpo de Bombeiros, reforma do HRJL, ampliação do campus e dos cursos da UFPI, criação do CEFET, doação de terrenos para famílias de baixa renda e construção de um novo conjunto habitacional (COHAB).

Principais Logradouros:avenidaGetúlio Vargas,  Avenida Deputado Sá Urtiga,  Avenida Severo Eulálio,  Avenida Senador Helvídio Nunes,  Avenida Tininha de Sá Urtiga,  Avenida Ayrton Senna , Avenida Capitão Felipe,  Avenida Nossa Senhora de Fátima,  Rua Coronel Francisco Santos, Rua Coelho Rodrigues, Rua Santo Antônio, Rua Marcos Parente, Rua Monsenhor Hipólito, Rua Coronel Luís Santos dentre outras.

Pontos Turísticos Catedral de Nossa Senhora dos Remédios (em estilo gótico) Morro da Mariana (onde se tem uma vista panorâmica da cidade, além variados restaurantes e pizzarias e, sobretudo, a maior caracterítica da cidade, que tem a maior concentração urbana vivendo em encostas ou sobre morros do Estado do Piauí) Igreja do Sagrado Coração de Jesus – “igrejinha”(a primeira igreja da cidade de Picos) Museu Ozildo Albano (com peças e gravuras que retrata a história da cidade) Feira-Livre (uma das maiores feiras livres do Piauí e do Nordeste – a diversidade de produtos comercializados serve de atrativo),  Prainha do Rio Guaribas,   Picoense Clube, e AABB de Picos. Almedinha Bar dentre outros.

Na Política o município é administrado pelo prefeito Gil Marques de Medeiros ( o Gil Paraíbano)  que foi eleito em 2004, quando tomou o comando do grupo do ex-prefeito Zé Nery impulsionado pelo slogan de “Ordem e Progresso”  sustentado no discurso de ” alavancar o progresso de Picos ” na linha positivista o prefeito Gil Paraibano venceu também a reeleição em 2008 contra o ex-prefeito Zé Nery. Em 2012, não conseguiu fazer o seu sucessro , a sobrinha Tazmânia Gomes de Medeiros Oliveira(deputada Belê-PSB) que perdeu a eleição para um ex-aliado, deputado Kleber Eulálio que rompeu em 2010 e formou um bloco de alianças,  agregando diversos partidos políticos, como o do ex-prefeito Zé Nery.   Kléber Eulálio(PMDB)  foi eleito prefeito de Picos, nas eleições de 2012 e  tomará posse no dia 01 de janeiro para o  mandato de 4 anos,  período de  janeiro de 2013 a 31 de dezembro de 2016.

O município de Picos ten forte representatividade  na Política do Estado,  atualmente conta com os deputados estaduais : Belê Medeiros(PSB),  deputado Warton Santos (PMDB), deputado Nerinho(PTB), deputado Tadeu Maia ( Tadeuzinho-PSB) e o deputado Kléber Eulálio(PMDB), que deixou o carga para assumir o comando do município de Picos. Além disso, tem  o próprio  governador Wilson Martins(PSB) que é um filho da região.
